Rangjung Yeshe Perak’s Chinese New Year Charity
This 22nd of January 2017, in conjunction with Chinese New Year, Rangjung Yeshe Perak brought festive cheer to the elderly and the disabled, with a charity food distribution. This is the 6th year running and it has become an annual event of sorts for RYPK.
Donations and contributions are collected from kind individuals and corporations. Food essentials like rice, oil, sugar, salt, noodles, biscuits, canned goods and bottled sauces are purchased and packed into attractive red hampers.
The first distribution in 2012, began with 100 hampers. The following year 150 hampers were given away. Year by year, the numbers have grown and we now have a database of over 700 recipients. However, due to limited resources we are not able to give out 700 hampers. This year, 2017, we were able to raise enough funds to give away just over 400 hampers.
This charity distribution is a process that involves many people from start to finish. We greatly appreciate each and every sponsor and every volunteer. With continued support, we will be able to bring cheer to more individuals during the festive period.
